Was, is, and always will be Jinibara country – walk today with a view to the past. Marvel at the sight of The Glass House Mountains and hear the legendary dreamtime story of Tibrogargan and his family.
The workshop will be presented by Jinibara Artist and dedicated father, BJ Murphy, a contemporary visual artist, curator and songman. BJ is dedicated to the continuation of his Jinibara culture drawing inspiration from his country in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Queensland Australia. Through his paintings, carvings, wood burnings, songs, and curatorial work BJ holds a deep responsibility to his culture and the representation of stories that have been passed down to him by his family.

Ashley Swift, one of Australia’s leading drag performance artists and producers, and his team, will work with 30 aspiring stars to create a drag persona, costume, make-up and performance for their pageant runway debut at The Pageant of Pineapple Queens and Bunya Kings.
Limited places. Pre-workshop preparation kit of music and schedule will be provided ahead of the workshops. Bring your own heels, or flats – everything else provided!
Attendance at both workshops required to participate as a pageant contestant, with Thursday afternoon rehearsal at the Maleny venue.
